Constance Ephelia vs The Savoy
Constance Ephelia sits on the Port Launay peninsula inside a protected marine park setting. It is quiet and private, but you drive over the mountain to reach Victoria and most of the island. That makes it ideal if you want to stay put and relax.
The Savoy is in Beau Vallon, the island’s best-known tourist area, with a long beach, restaurants, bars and a market nearby. It is close to Victoria and the airport, so you can reach the sights quickly, and you can walk to the village for dinner.
In short: Choose Ephelia for seclusion and space, and the Savoy for convenience and variety.
Beaches
Ephelia has two beaches within its grounds, one on each side of the peninsula, and the sea is part of the Port Launay Marine National Park, which is good for snorkelling. The beaches feel private and tranquil.
The Savoy is close to Beau Vallon Beach, a long, popular bay with calm water in many months and good sunset views. It is livelier, with beach bars, water activities and plenty of people. Seasonal conditions vary on Mahé, so ask us which beach is calmest on your dates.
Rooms and Accommodation
Ephelia is known for its spacious suites and villas, and some villas have private pools, which suits families and honeymooners wanting privacy. The Savoy offers rooms, suites and a penthouse in a colonial style, with garden, pool and ocean views. Choose based on your budget and the level of space you want, and check each resort for current room categories.
Food and Drink
Ephelia has five restaurants with different themes, along with several bars, so a longer stay is easy without repeating a menu. The Savoy offers all-day dining, a specialist restaurant and a beach bar and grill, plus the chance to eat out in Beau Vallon’s restaurants. If you like trying local places, the Savoy’s location makes it easier.
Spa and Wellness
Both resorts have large spas. Ephelia’s spa is described as one of the biggest in the Indian Ocean, set within the resort’s gardens. The Savoy’s spa has multiple treatment rooms, a sauna and a hammam. If the spa is the main reason for your trip, compare treatment menus, as these change.
Families, Couples and Honeymooners
Families: Both have kids’ clubs. Ephelia offers more space, activities and water sports, while the Savoy is easier for short trips to Victoria and the beach.
Couples and honeymooners: Ephelia’s villas and secluded beaches are popular for privacy. The Savoy suits couples who like a livelier setting and easy access to restaurants and sunsets.
Active travellers: Ephelia offers on-site activities, such as water sports and walking trails. The Savoy puts you close to Beau Vallon’s activities, snorkelling and diving trips.
First-time visitors who want to see the island: The Savoy’s central position makes day tours quicker.
Which Is Better for Tours and Excursions?
Both resorts are good bases, but there are some practical differences:
- From the Savoy, most tours start closer to Victoria, the botanical gardens and the marine park jetties, so you spend less time travelling.
- From Ephelia, you are next to Port Launay Marine National Park and the Morne Seychellois National Park, but longer drives apply for Victoria and the east coast.
- Praslin and La Digue trips leave from Mahé’s airport and jetties, so both resorts work well. Allow for the longer drive from Ephelia.
Who Should Choose Which?
Choose Constance Ephelia if you want:
- Space, privacy and a resort where you can stay all week
- Two beaches and a marine park on your doorstep
- Villas with private pools
- Lots of on-site dining and activities
Choose the Savoy if you want:
- A shorter transfer from the airport
- To be close to Victoria, restaurants and Beau Vallon’s atmosphere
- Quick access to day tours
- A smaller, more compact resort
